HUCBMS Sucesses

Examples of major successful negotiations with HEFCE and other governmental bodies:

(1) the recognition of biomedical science as a teaching area with representatives from our member institutions being selected as Subject Reviewers by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for Higher Education;

(2) the recognition of biomedical science as an important and major part of Unit of Assessment 11 (UOA 11) (Other Subjects and Professions Allied to Medicine) in the 1996 and 2001 Research Assessment Exercises;

(3) member(s) of HUCBMS member institutions being appointed as panel members for RAE 2001 UOA11 and RAE 2008 sub panel 12;

(4) negotiations with the IBMS with regard to their role with the Health Professions Council in defining professional status, qualifications, competence, and registration for biomedical scientists.
